How my journey began

My passion for skincare grew after my first visit to a dermatology clinic. I struggled with moderate cystic acne for years until a physician assistant specializing in medical and cosmetic dermatology got me on the right track. I found it intriguing learning about the skin, how complex an organ it is, and the different products and chemicals that would ultimately lead me to improved, clear skin. While in pursuit of learning more about skincare and products, I realized how little is known about our skin, products, ingredients, and the beauty industry in general.

This led me to start my blog, Skin Pursuits. Here I can combine a few of my passions, skincare, cosmetics and chemistry.

There are so many beauty products out there, but more research about what goes into those products is needed. Additionally, the scientific information out there can be challenging to digest.

My mission is to create a platform to educate consumers about skincare, cosmetic ingredients, and health awareness.

I also want to reach out to professors, scientists, and physicians to discuss current research, cosmetic industry problems, and how those problems affect our bodies.

CONTACT ME

My passion for dermatology ignited when I first watched an episode of Dr. Pimple Popper. The episode featured an extraction of a dilated pore of Winer, and from that moment, I was hooked. I found myself immediately captivated by the science behind the process, and soon after, I dove into research on various skin conditions, their causes, and the treatments available. This curiosity naturally led me to explore the intricacies of the epidermis and dermis layers, fueling a deeper interest in what influences skin health.

In pursuit of this growing passion, I joined the blog Skin Pursuits, where I can merge my interests in skincare, chemistry, and dermatology. It has been an exciting journey, especially as I delve into the science behind products and ingredients that claim to improve skin health.

My mission is to fill that gap—by providing credible, well-researched information to help others make informed decisions about the products they use. I want to educate people about the key ingredients in skincare products and their effects on skin health, demystifying some of the complex science behind them.

Additionally, I hope to connect with professionals to collaborate on current studies and innovations. This collaboration will help me stay on top of the latest dermatological research and share it with the public in an easily understandable way.

Creativity requires input, and that's what research is. You're gathering material with which to build.
